Reality Check Wednesday #5

My kids love dirt. This is my reality. And it's ok.

I don't know about you, but dirt makes me cringe.

And my kids....well, they loooove dirt. My girls could be perfectly content one minute holding an elaborate tea party in their room complete with "real" dishes and princess gowns.

And the next minute this happens.....

Dirt Happens.

My kids love dirt. This is my reality. And it's ok.

Yes, that's a chicken she's carrying around while walking through the mud. (Smh)

My kids love dirt. This is my reality. And it's ok.

So, I have 2 choices: yell and scream for them to put the doggone chicken down and get back in the house where they are sure to get a full scrub down or tell them to pose for a picture and let them continue to get messy. Guess which one I chose...

My kids love dirt. This is my reality. And it's ok.

The mom I was a few years ago would not have stood for it. But I've learned to embrace this country life. It's really ok. We have washing machines. And my kids will always remember the memories they made outside where things aren't sparkly clean. That's what I want for them. Oh, and don't worry. Their brother isn't far from the action. He's only 10 months old but dirt naturally tends to cling to him too.

That's my reality check for the week. Dirt happens and it's ok. I hope you'll check out last week's Reality Check Wednesday, which was actually my first video. And please leave a comment below if you'd like. Thanks for stopping by!

Blessings,

  1. I'm mostly ok with dirt now, but when they pick up some kind of animals poop, I still freak out.

    1. Haha yes, I know what you mean. The other day Travis was licking chicken poo off of Stella's flip flop. Oh the things we get used to out here in the country. Haha.

  2. Hi Michelle! It's funny what we pick up from our parents, isn't it? I lived in a suburb, but can clearly remember turning over rocks and plucking out worms for a 'worm collection'. I guess my mom was okay with it!
It sure looks like your children are having a great time! What's a little dirt in exchange for the joy of living their country lives, and playing with each other? Good for you I say!
    Sunday Blessings,
