The Joy in Hard Days

Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Habakkuk 3:17-18

The Lord sent me right to this passage this morning and I'm so glad! I love how the footnotes read, "Habakkuk has learned that he can trust God, and with trust comes great joy, not in circumstances but in God himself."

I love that!

I needed that!

Some days you have to put aside what you feel and concentrate on what you know. And yesterday, I felt awful. My emotions seemed to be waging war on me all day long. And I can look at my circumstances and see how they made for the perfect storm.

But our joy does not come from our circumstances, praise God! Our joy comes from Jesus. From who He is, what He has done and what He is going to do in us and through us. That is joy-worthy!

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness.
